Hiroshima Animation fest awards ‘Am I a Wolf?’

Iranian award-winning short animation ‘Am I a Wolf?’ has won award at the biennial Hiroshima International Animation Festival in Japan.

Amir-Houshang Moeen’s flick grabbed the honorary statuette and a cash prize of one million Japanese yen at the 18th edition of the Japanese filmfest.

The media has announced that “the reason for which the jury of this festival granted the award is that this animation blurs the boundaries between reality and theatrical and cinematic performances by using beautiful images and harmonic sounds.”

Produced in 2017 by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, the film produced by Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults has so far participated at over 30 international film festivals and won 14 awards.

‘Am I a Wolf?’ is about a group of pupils performing “The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats”. But the child acting as the wolf feels lonely and irritated.

Qualified as an Academy Award Short Film Festival, the Hiroshima International Animation Festival is “a biennial manifestation dedicating to the advancement of visual media art culture in general, by promoting international cross-cultural exchanges through the development of animation art.”

Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, the event will be held on August 20-24, 2020 without the presence of the audience but Japanese jury members only.
